North Wales has a reputation as one of the best mountain walking destinations in the country, and on this adventure weekend you’ll experience some of the most exhilarating summits in Snowdonia.

Our mountain guides will assess the conditions on the day and will select the routes from which you will get the best adventure and most memorable summits. Our aim is to walk high in the Glyders and the Carneddau ranges. However, if winter weather conditions require us to we will either find alternative areas to explore or will stay below the snowline.

Glyders & Carneddau
Two of the most well known mountain ranges in Snowdonia are the Glyders and the Carneddau. Divided by the main road that runs through the valley these compact but dramatic areas are home to several of the most distinctive summits in Britain.

The Glyders are statuesque and bristled and the Carneddau are burly and scraped. With stunning views of Snowdon and Tryfan this weekends adventure will take you on two fantastic routes around these impressive mountains of North Wales taking in 7 of the highest 10 summits in Snowdonia.

Friday:
Meet the rest of your group and your guides at our Lodge. Enjoy a hearty two course dinner, a few drinks and plenty of relaxed banter, while we confirm some plans for the next two days.

Saturday:
A big cooked breakfast – you’re going to need it – and we’ll then load up our packs and hop on the bus for a short drive to the Carneddau. We have a few options, depending on the group and the conditions, but the main aim will be some classic summits taking in some of the highest in Snowdonia. The varied terrain will give you the opportunity to work on some skills, and there will be no shortage of advice available. Having completed the route, we’ll head back to the Lodge for tea, coffee (this place has wonderful coffee) and some homemade cakes and time for a hot shower. Saturday night is usually a highlight of the weekend with more tasty food and plenty of chat around the table about the day’s events – an opportunity to cement new friendships and to really get to know your group.

Sunday:
Another hearty breakfast and we’re off. Today we’ll be looking to complete a circular walk around the Glyders, hopefully taking in some more of Snowdonia’s highest and most stunning peaks (if the weather was clear on Saturday you will have been able to see today’s route from across the valley). This’ll be a good days walking and by the end of it you’ll have some more of the classics ticked off your list. The bus will take us back to the Lodge for tea, coffee and cake followed by a quick round up of the day and the weekend and time to rest a little before your trip home.

Note: whenever possible, the routes we follow will be based on the group’s preferences and abilities although the weather on the day and route conditions can also affect this.

This is a 'Hiking' weekend.

Please refer to the 'Hiking' section on the 'What kit do I need?' page.

This weekend will include a couple of big days, climbing some huge summits. The terrain that you will encounter on this adventure is mostly grass covered or rocky paths. In places the ground will be uneven and there will be a couple of small scrambles where you may need to use your hands on the rock to descend or ascend small sections. The nature of mountain walking means that there is height involved and on occasions you will be nearer large drops so a head for heights is advisable.

If you have any concerns about your ability or fitness, please get in touch.

Please review the breakdown of our grading system for our adventures here.
