Wales’ highest mountain (via the South Ridge)
North Wales has a reputation as one of the best mountain walking destinations in the country, and on this adventure weekend you’ll experience two of the most exhilarating summits in Snowdonia.

Snowdon is the highest mountain in Wales and many believe it to be the ultimate British mountain. It’s certainly a big pointy mountain with some amazing routes to the summit and many people each year aim to reach the top. On this fully guided weekend we’re going to take you to the top of Snowdon via the South Ridge, a quieter yet more exciting and at times scrambly route. Having completed our summit we’ll also be exploring the smaller but equally enjoyable Moel Hebog with fabulous views over the day before’s conquest, Snowdon.

North Wales has a reputation as one of the best mountain walking destinations in the country, and on this adventure weekend you’ll experience two of the most exhilarating summits in Snowdonia.

Our mountain guides will assess the conditions on the day and will select the routes from which you will get the best adventure and most memorable summits. Our aim is to summit Snowdon via the South Ridge and on the following day to climb Moel Hebog.

Snowdon
Snowdon is the highest mountain in Wales and a great one to climb. It is however one of the busiest mountains so we are aiming to climb it via the more exciting South Ridge. There’s a tiny amount of scrambling on this route but if it’s a clear day the views are spectacular.

Moel Hebog
A truly great Snowdonian mountain, Moel Hebog (‘the hill of the hawk’) is sometimes forgotten as it sits a little away from the primary targets for walkers of Snowdon and the Glyders. Like many others you might just enjoy this mountain so much it becomes your favourite peak.

Friday:
Meet the rest of your group and your guides at our Lodge. Enjoy a hearty two course dinner, a few drinks and plenty of relaxed banter, while we confirm some plans for the next two days.

Saturday:
A big cooked breakfast – you’re going to need it – and we’ll then load up our packs and hop on the bus for a short drive to the start of our climb. Our aim will be to ascend Snowdon via the South Ridge and, having summited, to return to our start point. We might even have time for a celebratory drink on the way back. Having completed the route, we’ll head back to the Lodge for tea, coffee (this place has wonderful coffee) and some homemade cakes and time for a hot shower. Saturday night is usually a highlight of the weekend with more tasty food and plenty of chat around the table about the day’s events – an opportunity to cement new friendships and to really get to know your group.

Sunday:
Another hearty breakfast and we’re off. Today we’ll be looking to complete a circular walk to the summit of Moel Hebog, hopefully with breathtaking views of Snowdon (if the weather is clear). This’ll be a good days walking and by the end of it you’ll have another classic ticked off your list. The bus will take us back to the Lodge for tea, coffee and cake followed by a quick round up of the day and the weekend and time to rest a little before your trip home.

Note: whenever possible, the routes we follow will be based on the group’s preferences and abilities although the weather on the day and route conditions can also affect this.

As there is the potential for Winter conditions this is a 'Winter Mountaineering' weekend.

Please refer to the 'Winter Mountaineering' section on the 'What kit do I need?' page.

This weekend will include a couple of big days, climbing some huge summits. At this time of year it is possible for there to be some patches of snow lying on the higher summits. If this is the case we will avoid these areas.

The terrain that you will encounter on this adventure is mostly rocky paths. In places the ground will be uneven and there will be a couple of small scrambles where you may need to use your hands on the rock to descend or ascend small sections. The nature of mountain walking means that there is height involved and on occasions you will be nearer large drops so a head for heights is advisable.

If you have any concerns about your ability or fitness, please get in touch.
